Civil Ceremony Weddings in Dublin

In Ireland, more and more people are moving away from the traditional church wedding and are now opting for a Civil Ceremony or a Humanist Ceremony. Also, the Civil Partnership Act 2010 finally opened up the path for same sex couples to unite in a civil partnership, with the first ceremonies taking place in the Spring of 2011 (by the end of 2012, civil partnerships had been registered by 965 couples, and had taken place in every county in Ireland).

The huge increase in popularity for Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships has altered the decision-making process for couples when choosing their wedding venue. Most wedding venues are registered to host civil ceremonies, and now couples are on the lookout for a beautiful backdrop for their ceremony as well as the perfect venue for the celebratory meal.

Here at The Lucan Spa Hotel, we offer couples a number of complimentary suites for civil ceremony use. The beautiful Boyne Suite provides a beautiful backdrop for your "I dos". The Boyne Suite features gorgeous chandeliers, plush private entrance and a woodland backdrop for your alter table.

Outdoor Ceremonies in Dublin

Another popular method of tying the knot is through a Humanist Wedding Ceremony. A humanist wedding is also now the only legal – non-Church wedding that you can have on a weekend, as civil ceremonies require a state registrar who only works Monday to Friday. A Humanist Wedding will allow for a more personal and unique ceremony, but very similar to a church wedding in its format, with the bride walking down the aisle, readings, music, and vows and exchanging of rings. The huge advantage of a Humanist Wedding is the fact that they can take place both indoors and outdoors.

The Lucan Spa Hotel provide stunning surroundings for outdoor ceremonies. Our private woodland on the grounds of the hotel opens up into a clear area perfect for wedding ceremonies.

Ideal for ceremonies for up to 120 guests, the outdoor woodland weddings of The Lucan Spa Hotel offer bride and grooms something unique and intimate for their special day. Real oak barrels, candle lanterns and a red carpet aisle provide a vintage and unique touch to the most romantic of settings.

In order to be legal, a humanist wedding requires an officially approved celebrant. Celebrants are based all around Ireland but most are willing to travel. The Lucan Spa Hotel recommends Tom Colton. Tom and his team have carried out a number of ceremonies at the hotel and offer couples a brilliant service for their day.
